Martinelli Luce Vignelli Metafora Coffee Table, also known as the Metaphora Table. Metafora, a low square coffee table, was designed by Lella and Massimo Vignelli in 1979. The culmination of Lella and Massimo Vignelli's experimentation, this enduring icon of modern Italian design explores the relationship between art and design. The four forms of the Euclidean geometry, the Cube, the Cylinder, the Sphere and the Pyramid, made of four different marbles, represent the basis of the table finished with a big sheet of transparent glass. The four elements are independent and can be positioned freely, without the table losing its own identity regardless the position of the elements it consists of, being them all necessary however to make it be stable. The epitome of Italian modernist style, the Metafora compliments any refined interior and makes a great coffee table in the living room, lobby or office. Select from four different stone types including marble or travertine.
The mixed color Metafora table include a pyramid in white Carrara marble, a cube in black Marquinia marble, a cylinder in Travertine and a sphere in Rasotica marble. Also available with all four geometrical shapes in either white Carrara marble, black Marquinia marble or travertine.
