The Orange Slice Chair was designed by French designer Pierre Paulin for Artifort in 1960. Pierre Paulin trained to become a sculptor in Paris but an unfortunate accident left one of his hands partially impaired. He turned to furniture design and designed numerous design classics for the Dutch furniture manufacturer Artifort. Pierre Paulin was able to infuse the free-flowing curves of sculpture into his fabulous chairs. This careful balance of rounded free-flowing design is typical of Pierre Paulin's organic furniture style. The simplicity and gently curved forms of his Orange Slice Chair for Artifort makes the design seem tranquil, pure and inviting.  Available in two heights.  Optional ottoman is also available. Designed in 1960, Orange Slice is a timeless icon that looks as fresh and inspired today as it did when it was first created. And yet its slices consist of two completely identical shells of pressed beech, covered with foam, on a chromed metal tubular base. We can assist you if you prefer a different upholstery. We can supply the Orange Slice Chair in any custom fabric you desire. Customers may send their own upholstery grade fabric to Stardust or choose from an endless array of upholstery options available from these manufacturers. We advise however to upholster the Globe Lounge Chair in a fabric that has sufficient "stretch" like Kvadrat Tonus or Kvadrat Divina. Other fabrics may cause a number of pleats to appear, which cannot be avoided. Leather upholstery is available as well for a surcharge. We will be happy to provide fabric samples upon request!
