The Bouroullec brothers continue their study of simplicity and elegance with their new Losanges collection in a stylish beige-grey color combination. Called Losanges, the rugs are hand-made in Northern Pakistan, combining two colors (beige and grey) in a pattern of tessellated diamond shapes. The Losanges rug was created and designed by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec in collaboration with Care & Fair for Nanimarquina in Spain. It's about reinterpreting the traditional Persian rug using the ancient kilim technique. Technically complex, the Losanges collection requires great skill as it involves combining two colors through the geometrical rhombus shape, a great challenge for the craftsmen of Northern Pakistan. As well as being crafted by hand, the Afghan wool is also spun by hand, which allows for some unique color tones to be highlighted which make each rhombus different and each rug a unique item.
Almost all Nanimarquina rugs are made from natural materials such as wool or jute, which makes them 100% biodegradable. Each rug is designed in Barcelona, Spain and hand-made in India, Nepal or Pakistan. Nani Marquina produces her rugs with the "Care & Fair label", an organization that since 1995 acts against child labor. All carpets made in India also bear the label of KALEEN, issued by the council of India to guarantee again that no child labor was employed.
