Pallucco Fortuny Lamp
Fortuny Floor Lamp Classic by Mariano Fortuny
Original Edition in Black with White Inner Shade
Designer: Mariano Fortuny
Manufacturer: Pallucco
Classic Fortuny Lamp by Pallucco. This beautiful Fortuny Lamp is the Classic Edition in Nera (Black) with a black powder-coated metal frame. The diffuser shade is made out cotton: black on the outside and white on the inside. The Fortuny Lamp was designed by Mariano Fortuny in 1907 and is made by Pallucco in Italy. The Pallucco Fortuny Floor Lamp is perhaps one of the most irresistible floor lamps in our collection! Form and functionality drive the Fortuny's exceptional design. Although it embodies a sculptural, decorative form, Fortuny, at it's conceptual core, is an efficiently redefined task show light. Mariano Fortuny's 'Fortuny' Floor Lamp makes the most of its frame and its space through every feature.
The Pallucco Fortuny Lamp is considered a contemporary yet timeless icon even though it took its cue from experiments carried out in 1907 on a new indirect lighting system for stage lighting. His patented cyclorama dome made it possible to change stage lighting instantly from bright sky to faint dusk, and the Fortuny's reflector lamp works on the same principle. A camera tripod inspired the base with its adjustable central leg; for the shade Mariano Fortuny decided to turn the typical shade of that time upside down and also make it tilt. Fortuny's swiveling light shade lends it to maximum functionality. The lamp features a dimmer switch on its cord which affords easy on or off access. Its height can be adjusted between 75 and 94 inches. The imposing Fortuny Floor Lamp is ideal for large spaces such as large homes, apartments and lofts.
Mariano Fortuny was one of the great creative minds of the early 20th century. He was celebrated by his contemporaries as the last Renaissance man. He was born in Granada Spain but lived in Venice Italy for most of his life. Though trained as a painter, Mariano Fortuny was an accomplished and innovative designer, architect, inventor, couturier, and lighting technician. His life was dedicated to Art as he was not only an accomplished dress and fabric designer, but he also excelled in various disciplines such as interior and stage design, painting, photography, architecture, lighting. Mariano Fortuny is often associated with his quotation of the aphorism "It is not the quantity, but the quality of light, that makes things visible".
