Flos Parentesi Lamp. Less is more! Parentesi (Italian for bracket) is the essential minimalist floor-to-ceiling lamp. Castiglioni's purist and elegant silhouette combines form with function in a way that few other floor lamps can achieve. This floor light is a most fitting choice when direct lighting is required. An essential Italian design classic, the lamp was designed by Achille Castiglioni and Pio Manzoe, in 1971. Its small footprint and minimally intrusive lines make it a popular choice with architects and interior designers. Parentesi was cleverly designed with an adjustable spotlight that moves up and down a steel cable. The steel cable hangs from a hook in the ceiling and is kept in tension by a cast-iron counterweight which barely touches the floor. The core of this minimal fixture is the parenthesis that gives this floor-to-ceiling lamp its name. A shaped tubular support holds the light source in place by mechanical friction with the tense cable. Simply genius! The Achille Castiglioni Flos Parentesi lamp is perfect for spot lighting homes, galleries and offices. It is also one of the best reading lights in our collection. Place it wherever light is needed. Floor-to-ceiling lamp with a directional light spot. The lamp holder can be easily moved by sliding the steel tube over the steel cable. The lamp holder is made of injection-molded black elastomer. An on/off switch is located on the lamp holder. Several lamp holders can be placed on the same cable (contact us for additional pieces). Parentesi is perfect for ceiling heights up to 13' (157.5").
