Jean Prouv̩ Compas Direction Desk by Vitra. New official authorized version by the Prouv̩ estate, produced by Vitra Germany. Designed in 1953 by Prouv̩, this functional and spartan looking desk is a solid choice for the home office or a small business. Compas Direction is one of Prouve's earliest furniture designs. The aesthetic quality of this dynamic looking desk, with distinctive legs made of powder coated steel, has lost none of its freshness over the years. This desk fits well in the domestic setting (where Prouve himself used it as a writing desk) but can also be used in libraries, reception areas, hotels, etc.
Jean Prouv̩ developed the Compas table in various models around 1950, applying the construction principles that he is known for. All share elegantly splayed, narrow legs in metal, a formal reminder of a compass in French, le compas". The oiled solid wood table tops give Compas Direction an individual touch. With its compact dimensions, the table is ideal for the contemporary, largely paperless, home office, where it cuts a fine figure.
The Cit̩ is a creation by French industrial designer Jean Prouv̩. Jean Prouv̩, who always considered himself a design engineer, was also the designer and manufacturer of his product ideas. His unique range of designs includes letter openers, door and window fittings, lamps and furniture and even prefabricated houses and modular construction systems; essentially, anything that can be designed and industrially manufactured.
