Aluminum, Steel, PMMA, Marble Construction, Black- or Brass Finish
Designer: Michael Anastassiades
Manufacturer: FLOS
Captain Flint adjustable floor lamp, designed by Michael Anastassiades, produced by Flos: a collection of tall contemporary floor lamps with cone-shaped shades featuring integrated LED lighting. The minimalist and elegant Flos CAPTAIN FLINT (available in two editions: black or brass) features a spinning diffuser, tubular stem and a black marquina- or white carrara marble base. The light can be directed for reading but is diffused through an opal white lens in polycarbonate. A modern living room with a low, deep sofa and metal Captain Flint light provides a perfect setting. This minimalist floor lamp illuminates armchairs, tables and sofas from above, so you don't need to suspend a light from the ceiling.
Inspiration behind the design: there's a duality to this finely balanced piece from artist Michael Anastassiades. "I wanted to design a light that was dual purpose" ; he says. "It is an up lighter, illuminating the space with ambient lighting, and its rotation also offers a dim companion for reading. There's a notion of balance, with a cone resting delicately on its point on a rotating rod." It stands 60.5" tall and has a 8.3" diameter cone shade.
